Bio:
Vin Crosbie is president and managing partner of Digital Deliverance LLC.
Forbes, The Economist, Digital Media, Bostonian, PressTime, American Journalism Review, Columbia Journalism Review, and IDEAS magazines and CNN have reported on his work, and he is the subject of a chapter in Editor & Publisher Magazine’s Digital Delivery of News: A How-To Guide for Publishers.
The fifth generation of his family in the newspaper business, Crosbie is a product of the Rochester Institute of Technology. He was an executive with Reuters and the old United Press International, and was the first director of online publishing for News Corporation. He was one of the pioneers at Freemark Communications in Cambridge, Massachusetts, who invented the concept of free e-mail. He is a co-author of Internet World’s Guide to Webcasting. He also served on the Interactive Services Association’s Ad Hoc Consumer Privacy Task Force. Crosbie founded Digital Deliverance in 1996 to provide international publishers with strategic consulting on interactive publishing, with specific expertise in solicited ‘Push’ media such as HTML E-Mail, Short Messaging Systems, WAP/PCS, E-Books, and PDF remote digital delivery & printing applications. He also is co-founder and chairman of PublishMail LLC in Boulder, Colorado, and was a founder of Paradigm-TSA. As New York Software News said in 1999, "Vin Crosbie Paid His Dues".
Crosbie has moderated, presented on panels, or taught workshops for the Interactive Services Association, Voice on the ‘Net telephony conferences, Online News Summits, Interactive Newspapers conferences, Online Classified Symposia, the Poynter Institute for Media Studies, NetMedia London, and was a program co-chairman at the 1998 Comdex Conference in Las Vegas. He was a keynote speaker this year at the Founder Group (Hong Kong) conference at Peking University and at the Seybold Publishing Strategies Conference in San Francisco, and will be teaching one of the three Content Masters workshops at Interactive Publishing Europe conference in Zurich.
A resident of Greenwich, Connecticut, Crosbie is a member of the International Newspaper Marketing Association, New York New Media Association, Newspaper Association of America New Media and Circulation federations, Internet Society, Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, and an executive member of the World Association of Newspapers. He has been a juror for Editor & Publisher’s international EPpy interactive publishing awards contest and for many years has been the sole North American among the judges of the Interactive Publishing TOP contest in Europe. An experienced mountaineer with ascents in the Alps, North America, and Latin America, Crosbie also teaches skiing and above-treeline travel for the Appalachian Mountain Club’s headquarters chapter in Boston.
