Curriculum Vitae Joachim Sauter
Gestalter, Creative Director
Cofounder and Chairman of ART+COM e.V., Professor for digital media at the University of the Arts, Berlin. Adjunct Professor University of California, Los Angeles.
Born in 1959, Joachim Sauter graduated as a design student from the 'Fachhochschule f?r Gestaltung' in Schwaebisch Gmuend. He then worked as an art director alternating between Frankfurt and New York. After completing his MA at the 'Hochschule der Kuenste' Berlin he made further studies at the 'German Academy for Film and Television', Berlin. During this time, Joachim Sauter received several film awards such as the 'Lisitzky Award' from the 'Deutscher Kuenstlerbund' (the German Society of Fine Arts) and the 'Max Ophuels Kurzfilmpreis' (the Max Ophuels Award for Short Films).
Joachim Sauter has been using computers both as a tool and a means of communication from the early stages of his work as a designer. Fueled by this interest, he founded Art+Com e.V. in 1988 together with other designers, scientists and technicians. Today, Joachim Sauter is head of Art+Com e.V.
In the course of his work as a designer and researcher at Art+Com, Joachim Sauter has received the 'Ars Electronica Interactiv Award' in 1992 and 1997, as well as the 'Los Angeles Interactive Media Festival Impact Award' in 1995, the Film+Art Critics Award and the Prix Pixel INA in 1998, the german Multimedia Award 2001 and the German Design Red Dot Award Best of the Best.
